latest

Hi there!
It is about midnight here in Hat Yai, Thailand and I am beat!!! :) We have given away over 190 wheelchairs/walkers to the Thai people. They are so amazing and thankful. As a people, they are just wonderful.
The original team of 23 are all leaving tomorrow morning and I will take a 24 hour trip up north back to Chiang Mai with the team here on the ground in Thailand. I will be working, starting this Monday, at a child development center in Chiang Mai for 3 weeks and then off to the jungle areas for 2 weeks.
I am excited for the opportunity God has placed before me. It has been adventurous so far- elephant rides, ox carts, river rafting, karaoke, the beach, and a WHOLE bunch of work in
between!!!!! I am tired, but thankful.
When I get some time I will post pics (but I can't seem to do it myself!!!)
I love and miss you all! Write or text ANY time.
Peace,
Meggs

pics

I can't seem to upload pics. I will try again tomorrow!! :) :) :)

Mae Hong Son

Well, it is 3 a.m. and we just got back from a two day trip into the mountains. It was incredible. We went to Mae Hong Son, an area right near the Myanmar border that was filled with many different hill tribe groups.
On our way, we stopped and did an elephant ride which was super fun and we went rafting. Our hosts wanted to give us a few memorable events here in the mountains. It was like going into another time zone. (Not to mention there were over 1,000 curves and turns to get up into the mountains.
We were able to see patients for two days, and it was a lot of work. It seemed to be a very oppressed area; most of the people were extremely extremely poor. It was a difficult are to be in for most of the team, but I truly feel like a light from God was able to be shown on Mae Hong Son over the past two days. I am posting a few pics of the patients we saw and the elephant ride, etc.
It has been extremely hard work so far. I was in awe and excited and overwhelmed with everything last time, but this time is harder. Prayer will continue to be needed!!!
I miss you all. thanks for bearing with me during this blog thing...I will get better... maybe......

Third day already!!!!

Third day here! HAving a blast but working extremely hard! (I wish aI had more of a brain to type right now!) We have given about 35-40 chairs here so far. The people of Thailand have so very little, but are so thankful and beautiful. The stories of each patient is unique and heart wrenching.
We visited a boy at an orphanage yesterday who is 2 years old. He is the size of a 4 month old. His mom was an orphan and got pregnant on the streets at 15 and tried to abort him. They both survived, and he now requires 24 hour care to survive.  Living on a breathing and feeding tubes, he is cared for at all times. I looked at his little tiny feet and could not help but know that God created that little treasure.  I rejoiced at the fact that He is while and dearly loved by The Creator.
I will share more soon......
Here are a few pics- I will post more soon!

TODAY IS THE DAY!

Well, the day is here!
I am excited about what lies ahead; I leave tonight on a plane to Thailand. Our team of 23 people will be meeting in San Francisco and heading on our CRAZY LONG journey.
DESTINATION: Thailand.
I will be working throughout the country with our team from Joni and friends for teh first two weeks. We will be distributing wheelchairs/walkers/canes to those in need. For the next 2-3 weeks I will be in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and will work in a child development center there: http://www.ricd.go.th/english/contact.php.
Then, for the last 2-3 weeks, it is off to the working on the Thai/Myanmar border with Sharon Porterfireld, ministering to the disabled in this area.
I am so thankful to live out my heart; to be blessed enough to have this opportunity. I know God is working there already. I pray I can, as Kyle put it, "pick up a hammer and start helping Him work."
I will keep you all posted- thank you for taking this journey with me!!

GETTING READY

Well, I leave tomorrow.

There have been a rush of emotions the past few weeks (many of you have sat through them with me) but I am so excited for what lies ahead. We will start our 30+ hour journey from San Diego tomorrow night, February 4th at 7:30 p.m. It has been a crazy week- I moved out of my apartment, left the best job I have ever had, and almost killed my new "roomate" with an iron. Goodness.

Thank you so much for the prayers and encouragement. I have the most amazing family and support system anyone could want.
